From the earth was fashioned, <br />From the likeness of God, the man; <br /> <br />And the breath of life, <br />Breathed into him. <br /> <br />From Adam's rib, <br />Was fashioned, <br />A helpmate called the woman; <br /> <br />And the breath of life, <br />Breathed into her. <br /> <br />The garden, their paradise given <br />There to live in, <br />To have of fruit with exception. <br /> <br />But the two they fell, <br />Into a trap laid well, <br />By the wiley wiley deceiver; <br />Clever clever he; <br /> <br />Approached the woman, <br />Knowing she, was held high <br />In esteem by her man; <br /> <br />With skillful debate <br />Was she baited, she ate; <br />Then she to the man to sate <br /> <br />Tasted of the fruit forbidden, <br />From their eyes, veiled <br />Innocence slipped; <br /> <br />Exposing to them at the hip, <br />Their loins in full nakedness, <br />Which they taught to cover <br />With leaves. <br /> <br />From the Lord God ever, <br />There is no hiding; <br />He knew of their deeds. <br /> <br />His compassion meted them, <br />Garments made of skins; <br />His wrath, banishment <br />With statuses new defined; <br /> <br />So then the woman, <br />By Adam, was named Eve; <br />Fitting her function given <br />By The Lord God; child bearer. <br /> <br />Banished then, and sent, <br />Out from their garden home; <br />They went; <br />Wanderers for a new home. <br /> <br />Then Adam slept with his wife <br />Eve; child bearer. <br /> <br />2009<br /><br />Gillena Cox<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/banished-2/
