In a time of long ago, he, - dying, <br />Turned to look at his true love, and needing <br />No assurance, took her hand. She was crying <br />As she saw his wound was deep. Wicked greed <br />Had robbed her of her Knight. His eyes told her <br />Of his everlasting love. Whispering low <br />So only she could hear, he mouthed this prayer. <br /> <br />He said love like theirs would conquer death, <br />And with faith, one day they would meet, and know <br />Each other, in another life. - Breathing <br />Then his last he slipped away. Her sweet face <br />Became a lonely mask of hidden grief. <br />No-one on earth would ever take his place. <br /> <br />From that dreadful day she never once more <br />Smiled, and after many weeks of fret, Lady <br />Dorothea died of broken heart, nought <br />Could save her, and they laid her in his grave. <br /> <br /> <br />A few more years then passed, and bright young men <br />Went hiking in the Scottish Glens, - the group <br />Had stopped to take the view, and two of them <br />Looked over gates into a field. A troop <br />Of maidens, dancing for the harvest yield <br />And dressed in white, now rested, she then turned. <br /> <br />Caught his stare, blue eyes met green and feeling <br />Suddenly unsteady, she swayed. - A tree <br />Was near, they took her to the shade. He ran <br />To help, left his friend, and by her side <br />He took her hand, and they knew. So began <br />Their story once again. She was crying. <br /> <br />They realised then they had been lovers <br />They had met and loved before.
