In captivity the demons of love <br />The chains thick enough with tongue tied <br />In the dark of the gallows no day and night <br />A lioness roars outside but to protect <br />With secrete eye follow the monsters <br />My tears my drink and anguish my life <br />For a dropp of water I pray to dark sky <br /> <br />I have put music to the chains I wear <br />I fly like soul from the dead to imagine <br />In heavens I travel with lovers I dine <br />The beauties I see and with nature divine <br />Sculptures I carve from my memory rich <br />I paint the walls like graffiti in subway <br />My voice a raga my eyes aglow <br /> <br />To me again cast eye of benevolence <br />The magicians in the court and musicians <br />Of Khusru’s tunes and Tansen on sitar <br />From the cold wall of the fort to the soul <br />In freedom thou cherish in colors of fair <br />Send thou to me thy courtiers to see <br />A look on me and the verse I sing <br /> <br />I know in your dreams for the day <br />When freedom be mine and thine too <br />Of broken words and pity of the self <br />From self I derive like child in play <br />Hold the cup and celebrations on trumpet <br /> <br />Of another life thy promise not mine <br />But for the heart so wont to deception <br />Just one more for the life in inception <br />Nothing is real nothing is false <br />But the freedom yet another conjuration <br />24/1/2009<br /><br />Sadiqullah Khan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/slow-the-love-in-captivity/
