Sitting here staring <br />At a downed power line <br />Computers shut down <br />without access <br /> <br />People in their cubes <br />Like little army ants <br />Lost without a meaning <br />Or a purpose <br /> <br />And I’m wondering about the words <br />That I would have said to you <br />If I had spoken of the notebook <br />I had written <br /> <br />Now your somewhere else <br />And I’m in a place <br />With a downed power line <br />And no access <br /> <br />And to me <br />it's a lost generation <br />A shell of a capsule <br />Which has broken <br /> <br />Where towers once fell <br />And debt mountains tall <br />Spinning on a spiral’s <br />tilted axis. <br /> <br />I’m in a plot <br />That I never should have known <br />In a life of a movie <br />unpredicted <br /> <br />Where the heroes are the villains <br />And the villains are the banks <br />Paid for from the pockets <br />Of the people <br /> <br />They tell you to be smart <br />To get an education <br />To be like your parents <br />Or be better <br /> <br />But what they don’t understand <br />Is that we never had a chance <br />When the moneys in the hands <br />Of the 'masters' <br /> <br />They sit by their desks <br />With empty role calls <br />Trying to fix the problems <br />Of consumption <br /> <br />And you can't watch the news <br />Without a congressional fool <br />Telling you to save <br />And be prudent. <br /> <br />But the budget overflows <br />And no one seems to know <br />Just what 800 billion <br />Means for china. <br /> <br />It’s like a bottle filled with sand <br />Where free trade stands <br />an army of a shadow <br />of an empire. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Copyright (c) David DeSantis<br /><br />David DeSantis<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/stimuli-and-army-ants/
