**HALLUCINATION! <br /> <br />An article in a magazine read, - <br />That the truly affluent, the rich and famous, <br />as on date, <br />Are not satisfied by champagne and caviar <br />any more, <br />Preferring sophisticated drugs instead! ! <br />This made me think, that the greatest of our <br />Epicurean pleasures, - <br />Is brought on by an inebriated or hallucinating <br />state, - <br />To make us forget our suffering and pain! <br />To remain in a dream-like state of suspended <br />animation, <br />In our endeavor to create a world of heavenly <br />bliss, <br />Where reality perhaps ceases exists! <br />Becomes the goal of those earthlings! <br />While for some Philosophers, this world <br />itself, <br />Appears to be a hallucination or a ‘maya’, <br />A mere figment of God’s imagination, <br />Existing as an ‘idea in God’s mind’; <br />While we try to free ourselves from the <br />strangle-hold of time! <br />As an escapists, we try to cheat pain and death, <br />With opium, and choicest of drugs; <br /> Was this our ultimate fate? ! <br />With drugs we try to hypnotise our mind, <br />Deluding our God-given consciousness, - <br />With which we can sense, feel and get <br />closer to Him, - <br />And realise Him the best! <br />- Raj Nandy <br />- 01 Mar 09 <br />(**May be treaded as a sequel to my earlier <br />poem, ‘Say No To Drugs’)<br /><br />RAJ NANDY<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/hallucination-8/
