I walk through an open door <br />the scent of tears and despair filling my lungs <br />visions of those in my past are waiting in the Foyer <br />the one who brought me here holding my arm <br /> <br />I didn't think I'd be back here so soon; <br />the place I'd been living for so many years.. <br />Thought I'd finally found my exit out <br />believed I was at last free of these painful restraints.. <br /> <br />Lights are flickering softly from hundreds of candles <br />names of the fallen carved into their soft skins <br />reddened eyes look around the familiar scene.. <br /> <br />My Joy is checked in <br />My Sorrow is wrapped in satin and placed in my arms <br />My Soul is shoved back into its deadly cell <br /> <br />I look at the one who's deceived me <br />and led me back to the steps of my hell <br />As the Mistress comes and leads me once more to my barren room <br />I shed a tear while I quietly cry out why...<br /><br />Deana Rode<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/2009-heartache-manor/
