An intergalactic encounter, <br />They arrived from a distant universe, <br />Discovering we were the closest planet <br />Containing living creatures. <br /> <br />Leagues of futuristic flying mechanisms <br />Shade Earth from the sun <br />As the indestructible Space Voyagers <br />Collided with our infrastructure <br /> <br />Amidst the chaotic destruction, <br />Hideous life forms emerge unscathed, <br />Dripping acidic substances from an unidentifiable orifice. <br />They scatter and breathe devastation. <br /> <br />Entire cities are demolished thoroughly. <br />The land is mercilessly ravaged. <br />Earthly military forces combine, <br />Attempting an assault on the invaders. <br /> <br />Although possessing much potency, <br />The military forces cannot contend <br />With what appears to be thaumaturgy. <br />The otherworldly beings are unfathomably powerful. <br /> <br />Humanity’s end appears imminent. <br />God seems to turn away from the constant plights. <br />The milieu throughout Earth is grim, <br />And the terror is unimaginable. <br /> <br />Amidst the pandemonium which swallows the planet, <br />A man stands upon a hill, <br />Staring down at the carnage that is unfolding. <br />He falls to his knees and speaks. <br /> <br />“What have I done? ”<br /><br />Alex Gomez<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/humanity-redefined-part-1-xeno-creatures-invade/
