Your warm body lies next to me
Yet emits such a frigid chill
I try to cuddle, comfort you
You play asleep, and just lay still

Our “honeymoon years” long over
Desires for each other gone
The twinkle I once saw in eye
Imagined? Could I have been wrong?

Satin bed sheets of stagnant love
Provide little comfort throughout the night
With such a soft silky texture
They seem so rigid rough tonight

Pet names once shared, and spoken
Seem now, that of foreign tongue
Negligee once worn with comfort
Dangles moth eaten, in closet, hung

Loveless kisses from frozen mouth
Chaps and splits my tender lips
Slowly melting all of passion’s heat
From sullen eyes, fall silent drips

Frigid soul, of warm blooded man
Perhaps one day you’ll thaw
Holding (with love) my face cupped in hand
Defusing (with warmth) my chattering jaw

Copyright 2008 W.
