Time turned missing last week; <br />not suspended- <br />disappeared and gone. <br /> <br />It is clear <br />it will not be returning, <br />because there was a note. <br /> <br />'I have been with you <br />for your <br />First Eternity <br />and now <br />I must leave.' <br />it said. <br /> <br />The mourners tried to gather <br />but could not agree upon a time. <br /> <br />Fate, History, Judges <br />all sat on the side of the road weeping. <br /> <br />There was no TV. <br /> <br />Marriages, appointments, deaths, births <br />and taxes <br />all suspended. <br /> <br />The Captains of Industry <br />and the Titans of War <br /> <br />complained bitterly that <br />profit-making was impossible <br />and that the tanks didn't work. <br /> <br />But, the ones who were happiest <br />were the Lovers. <br /> <br />Timelessness was their friend <br />They sat quietly not-counting the days. <br /> <br />There were crude sun dials made, <br />and chips carved into walls but what would be <br />the interval? <br />No one could agree. <br /> <br />Still each group started to create their own <br />time <br />each cocooned and holidays all changed <br />birthdays, anniversaries and memories <br />ranged the range of possibility. <br /> <br />Still the Lovers Loved <br />the Time given them. <br /> <br />I think I am own their side.<br /><br />Lonnie Hicks<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/time-is-missing/
