LOOKING AHEAD! <br /> <br />Those who had spent a difficult childhood, <br />Hoped for a better deal during their youth! <br />And those who had struggled during their <br />youth, - <br />Looked for a better life on reaching manhood! <br />And those who felt that their manhood was <br />all a tease, - <br />Hoped for an old age of relative comfort and <br />ease! <br />And those who suffered with diseases of <br />old age, - <br />Prayed for a better life beyond the world <br />of the dead! <br />While some even hoped for a better re-birth, - <br />Of a life of comfort and ease, on this earth! <br />Now what if I told you that this death, - <br />Is a total extinction of life’s flame? ! <br />Once the flame gets blown out, - nothing <br />remains there to doubt! * <br />Do not be angry with me for saying so, <br />Most of us are not sure where one goes! <br />I have yet to meet a man who has said, - <br />That he has returned from the world of the <br />dead! ! <br />So if I have been pondering and expressing <br />my doubts, - <br />Pardon me for writing and thinking aloud! <br /> <br /> -Raj Nandy <br /> 01 Apr 09 <br /> New Delhi <br />(* Buddhist concept of extinction!
