People question me about my content <br />“You never write about the beautiful things” <br />Everything is grim <br />Everything is ugly <br />Everything is damned <br />But hideousness is the currency of loveliness <br />Some people spend more then they’re worth <br />These folks are the poorest <br />Not shanty people in Africa <br />Not the bum pissing in an alley <br />Because, <br />To them <br />A sunset is a sunset <br />A dollar is a dollar <br />Art is art <br />But in reality, <br />Nothing is relative <br />Everything beautiful is paid for <br />By something repulsive <br />Something cruel <br />What is beauty without definition? <br />Stop waiting outside soup kitchens <br />Stop begging on crowded streets <br />Stop believing fairytale fiction <br />If you want real beauty <br />Open your eyes <br />Close your mouth <br />Keep your hands in your pockets <br />And one day… <br />You will be a millionaire<br /><br />Adam Holmes<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/beautiful-91/
