Old miser, poor lost soul in the empty riches of gold
every night you say a penny pincher's prayer
just wishing so for a wink of sleep

For you sell your soul to the devil, just for a single ounce
fool's gold holds you wish that bellows solace of yellows
that is sucking out your soul with haste and fear

You think God has been cruel when you rule with
greed. the Griffin flies so low in your hour
of need, for only dollars dance in your dreams;
you bet on rat races, that goes in circles,
while crows craws in the darkness on wings

All of your life searching for shimmer of hope
that swings on a rope, of yellows brightness
that you hold so dear
when all the while your life is fading fast into darkness,
when you had every chance to taste life sweet,
but haste you wasted it on taste of sour, bittersweet,
springs forth hours of lost flowers, ebbing into winters
of years of that were wasted in lost dreams

Stop it before its to late if wish to make heaven gate.
For the greatest piece of gold
-old miser isn't one, you can take-
its one you give as sweet smile upon a child face.
Then you understand the true meaning of the riches
that lays in our father's hands in heavens;
then so shall the golden bell toll for you old miser,

Please give and not take
Peace Please

Randy Hogan

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/miser-beware/
