when i look into your eyes,
my heart shakes at the feeling,
knowing that someday in the future,
you will be the next to die.

a little girl once came up to me,
'i want my mommy back! '
i started to cry,
she knew that she was never coming back.

that day i dread every single day,
what is the meaning of this?
i always ask myself,
but no one answers my question.

every day someone is crying,
wanting, begging for their loved ones back,
it slowly drains you,
and nothing else matters.

you lose faith in all the ones around you,
because you fear that look in their eyes,
yes, we all are going to die someday,
so why not say, 'but not today.'

we all fear one thing,
the fear i see in your eyes,
the world comes crashing down,
and so do you.

you think the world is coming to an end,
it’s just you in grief,
trust me,
you’ll learn to let go.

Heather Cropper

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-fear-i-see-in-your-eyes/
