Two trees share one root <br />and reach for the sky <br />One a girl, one a guy <br />How gently they sway by and by <br /> <br />Together they face to the sea <br />Sparkling brightly in the sun <br />Firmly planted, unwilling <br />and unable to run <br /> <br />They dutifully shade a park bench <br />Aimed out upon the bay <br />and shade the lovers who rest upon it <br />Sharing kisses by night and dreams by day <br /> <br />Through the clouds, the gales and the rain <br />The trees with one root remain <br />and their leaves bloom each season <br />Again and again <br /> <br />Birds to the top branches alight <br />To rest their weary wings from flight <br />and rest there deep into the night <br />To fly away at the break of morning light <br /> <br />And as the first rays of yellow sun <br />Shine brightly upon the tree <br />the he and she <br />Cast only ONE shadow <br /> <br /> <br />© James T.
