He asked me to marry him - <br />Of course i said yes, <br />I had no idea my love would be put to the test, <br />I thought we would be happy in our own little nest. <br />But my happiness turned to misery in only one week, <br />when he rang & said it was over - <br />I sat silent - could not speak. <br />I hung up the phone - I cried my eyes out, <br />The pain that i felt, I just wanted to shout. <br />I needed to talk but no-one was home, <br />So i sat down & trembled i felt so alone. <br />How can i tell every one its over so soon, <br />As the ring on my finger shines like the moon. <br />He, s hurt me before but never like this, <br />No making up & sealed with a kiss. <br />Its over from here - I will just have to learn, <br />That candles glow bright <br />But get too close & they burn! ......<br /><br />HELEN.J WILLIAMS<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/shattered-60/
