Irene C S ClarkHogg - Welcoming Spring

With heavy loins I strolled the wood,
Observing nature, as young men should,
Who enjoy the natural way of things;
And appreciate what a pure life brings.

Perhaps it was the scents of spring
Made my thoughts stray to sun kissed skin:
The warmth of rays that pierce the trees.
I forced myself to watch the bees.

Just then I saw a beautiful flower,
Resting naked in her fragrant bower.
If I joined her on her bed of moss,
What, I wondered, would be the cost?

I became the bee, for nature won,
And we made love beneath the sun.
Pink petals unfolded to my gentle touch,
And I sipped the nectar I loved so much.

Drops of sweet honey to welcome me,
Natures way; but then we can see
Just how much pleasure this can bring,
When lovers meet to welcome spring.

Irene C S ClarkHogg

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/welcoming-spring/
