Happy Mother's Day, Daddy
by Barbara Lynn Terry

He sat in his recliner
resting from the work day,
watching his five year old son
through the window playing.

He thought back to happier days
when his wife was there to
make sure that things got done
the way they were supposed to be.

He did the shopping, took his son to school
he did the laundry and the house cleaning
all after he got home from work but his one
precious joy was his little five year old boy.

It was a pity he had to work on a Saturday
the day before Mother's Day. But he had
to pay the bills, and buy the food and clothes
for him and his son.

Then the little boy stopped playing and came
in the house. He handed his daddy a little
folded up note with a drawing on it,
and the man's tears just flowed freely.

The little boy was looking at his daddy
with a great big smile on his face
because the note that he made said,
Happy Mother's Day, daddy.

Happy Mother's Day to everyone that raises a child.

© 2009 by Barbara Lynn Terry

Barbara Lynn Terry

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/happy-mother-s-day-daddy/
