A unconscious lad lay upon a bed. <br />The comfort of dreams, taking away all the dread. <br />His mind manifesting wondrous things, <br />Never wanting to wake for he had everything. <br />He holds her close behind shut eyes, <br />But it all ends the minute he opens his eyes it all dies. <br />For this is only true, <br />When dreams and reality collide. <br /> <br />A conscious lad sits next to that beautiful girl, <br />She lacks the knowledge that she could crush his world. <br />He sits patiently as a friend even though he wants to bend, <br />Wishing to hold her close and love her to the very end. <br />Although he respects her wishes and is only a friend. <br />Even though he knows without a doubt she could mend. <br />He yearns to entangle their fingers together, <br />For it would make him float like a feather. <br /> <br />For in his eyes she would always be the prize, <br />If only she would take the gamble and roll the dice. <br />It’s odd in his mind she doesn’t simply spin, <br />It’s his heart she managed to win. <br />She twirls, and she always puts his head in a whirl. <br />He wishes he could just allow all his emotions to unfurl. <br />For he is not one that has come upon only for lust, <br />He aches for their lips to meet before he busts. <br />He could imagine a story that brings shame upon a fairytale, <br />Being alone sitting with the thought she may not be his is hell. <br />Until they day he decided to break the shell. <br /> <br />A unconscious lad lay upon a bed. <br />The comfort of dreams, taking away all the dread. <br />His mind manifesting wondrous things, <br />Never wanting to wake for he had everything. <br />He holds her close behind shut eyes, <br />But it all it didn’t end when he opened his eyes, <br />A confused smile on his face and then he realized, <br />That dreams and reality had collide.<br /><br />Rivers O'Donahue<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/when-dreams-and-reality-collide/
