I met a women online <br />Her husband is in Iraq <br />Her children want him home <br />Please send him back <br /> <br />One night her kids took pictures <br />They are five and four <br />They did this by themselves <br />To send to their Daddie on a foreign shore <br /> <br />She’s just so proud of her kids <br />all she could do was weep <br />When she realized what they had done <br />When she was fast asleep <br /> <br />The summer heat is bearing down <br />and the hats don’t do a thing <br />Then the blinding wind cuts across <br />bringing pebbles of sand and things <br /> <br />Some soldiers sleep standing up <br />Some with just one eye peeled <br />Some have no shelter and no water <br />Out there in the field <br /> <br />I pray for those families <br />With soldiers in Iraq <br />I pray for those not coming home <br />And the one’s who are coming back <br /> <br />My friends husband is soldier <br />So she and her boys <br />Stand up for right and wrong <br />Though sometimes there’s little joy <br /> <br />This women I would call a friend <br />I care for her family and her man <br />He believes this is a fight for freedom <br />And he’s doing all he can<br /><br />Linda Racaniello<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/kids-cameras/
