I have tried so hard <br />My life is a sham <br />I cannot express myself for who I am <br />I have longed to find <br />A friend who is true <br />Who with stick with me <br />And help me through <br /> <br />But no one cares <br />Though I am weak and torn <br />I cannot let them see the truth inside of <br />The pain inside of me will not go away <br />It only increases every day <br /> <br />I have friends <br />Who does not <br />But mine are not real <br />They are not really there <br />They act nice to me <br />But I can see <br />They do not really care about me <br /> <br />I listen to them <br />When they are down <br />I help them up off the ground <br />But when the time comes <br />They pretend that they do not see <br />As I lie there feeble and weak <br /> <br />My wounds though many <br />They do not even try <br />To help me <br />To fix me <br />They could care less if I died <br /> <br />And yet I cannot let them see <br />The truth that is in me <br />I know if I tried <br />They would just look away <br /> <br />So here I am <br />Battered and torn <br />Trying not to show <br />The pain in me <br />I want so bad <br />To let it all out <br />But I cannot <br />The friends that I have <br />Would just shrug it off <br />It would not be their loss <br /> <br />I lay by the highway <br />Bleeding and torn <br />My friends pass me by <br />I cannot lat them see <br />The pain and the agony inside of me<br /><br />Edward Grey<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/what-i-cannot-let-them-see/
