seeing your face, beautiful as it is <br />will never be enough, to hide your scars. <br />scars that you show, when opening yourself, <br />showing everyone else; what’s within your shadows. <br /> <br />your face might be, something i want to see, <br />not only when you smile, not just once in a while. <br />But what’s your face, if it isn’t real. <br />The mask you’ll wear, while comfortable it feels <br />is not really you, so then, who really are you? <br /> <br />take a chance, show who you are, <br />somebody wants to know, someone might even hear, <br />the cry you make, when afraid of yourself, <br />afraid to make, just one little mistake, <br />you will slip and you will fall, bear the bad news, <br />and when worst comes to all... <br /> <br />I’ll be there, ready for you. <br />but i won’t be waiting, ‘cuase i’m human too. <br />I might be busy, i might seem involved <br />but i can dropp things quickly, <br />if you’re willing, to give me your all. <br /> <br />Or maybe it won’t happen, this will all come to pass, <br />my love for you, like that, poof, <br />could vanish into ash. <br />but I have struck my mark, with no better way to show it, <br />than within these endless lines, and in your heart you will know it. <br />and so if you ever feel this, you know who you are, <br />this piece wasn’t written for; <br />what’s within your shadows.<br /><br />Matthew Baughman<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/whats-within-your-shadows/
