my 8oth birthday <br /> <br />as the day dawns i look around <br />and thank the lord i am still above ground <br />i am thankful for the blessing of my life <br />my family, friends, especially my wife <br />a few aches and pains and a little gas <br />i take a few pills and it soon does pass <br />glasses i need to look around <br />and a hearing aid to detect the sound <br />vigourous exercise make me puff <br />but normally i am ok and thats good enough <br />i am thankful for the things i have seen and done <br />and life in general has been fun <br />it's 80 years since my birth <br />but only god knows how long i will be on this planet earth <br />all living things are born, bloom, fade and die <br />so when i depart do not cry <br />life has been good too so i think <br />so open the rum bottle and give me a drink<br /><br />hewitt hardy<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/my-80th-birthday/
