There is something about politicians, <br />Surely, everyone ought to know, <br />Tell the people what they want to hear, <br />And watch the somber faces glow. <br /> <br />There is something about politicians, <br />When their rhetoric is loud and clear <br />Promoting their unrealistic agenda, <br />Creating false hopes and sometimes fear. <br /> <br />There is something about politicians, <br />Like Santa Claus leaving gifts beneath the tree, <br />In the joy of many diehard and gullible electors, <br />Certainly, they must believe everything is free. <br /> <br />There is something about politicians, <br />Taxing the rich and not the entire corps, <br />Promoting costly programs in a liberal spree, <br />Emulating the practices of Robin Hood more. <br /> <br />There is something about politicians, <br />Though charges and imputations may fail, <br />It is something they have learned to accept <br />While traversing the strenuous campaign trail. <br /> <br />There is something about politicians, <br />Their grandiloquent words overwhelm the heart, <br />And is displayed in every political party <br />Of diehard partisans many miles apart. <br /> <br />There is something about politicians, <br />Defaming an opponent is part of the game, <br />Easily duping the public to win an election, <br />Using glittering generalities is always the same. <br /> <br />Voters beware - before you go to the polls, <br />Survey the consequences before you vote. <br />The well being of the nation is at stake and, <br />Your prudent choice can alleviate a societal jolt.<br /><br />Joseph T.
