We met in a coffee shop, and I was attracted to her at once <br />She said her name was Alice, and lived near by <br />Black straight hair she had, and blue piercing eyes <br />Drinking coffee, I spilled it on her sweater.Oh, my! <br /> <br />It left a stubborn ugly stain shaped into a letter R <br />She laughed and said I didn't have to grieve <br />The more we talked, the more I was charmed by her <br />Then abruptly she stood up and was about to leave <br /> <br />Promised to dropp in tomorrow, and I saw her home that night <br />Said she lived with her mom on the second floor <br />We wished each other good night, and she was out of sight <br />I was amazed, I never saw her opening the door <br /> <br />The next day I knew she wouldn't come, sure as hell <br />All week long I expected to see her, but failed <br />Then I came to her apartment, and rang the doorbell <br />A woman opened the door, I asked her about Alice, and she paled <br /> <br />Said Alice was her daughter, and died from a heart attack a week ago <br />When I told her how I met with Alice, she was shocked <br />And said she'd insist on exhumation to reveal the truth, and I could go <br />A few days later when we stood in the graveyard, I chain smoked <br /> <br />When the coffin was pried open, we gasped in horror <br />Alice lay there with eyes & mouth wide open, and her face black & blue <br />I saw the familiar stain on her white sweater <br />And realized that by the time I saw her out of the blue <br /> <br />She was probably still alive, struggling to survive <br />Later I read in the paper that an autopsy proved <br />That after being buried alive, she died from suffocation <br />The years passed by, but I'm always in a good mood <br />When in my dreams I'm visited by that enchanting apparition<br /><br />Aram Stefanian<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/buried-alive-2/
