I will never forget the pain <br />The sadness, the tears <br />As my heart sank in the shadoof <br />And the water seeped in <br />Mixed with salt and came up <br />To my eyes <br />Sadness, grief, despair and longing <br />There was pain in my soul <br />Hate with the pasiion of frustration <br />Moaning impatience in a mediocre country <br />This man was insensitive to my feelings <br />Cared less for my moods. <br />My spirit spited God and was restless <br />Wishing to have nothing to do with the <br />Impersonal deity: sooner no God and <br />No grief to drive me crazy <br />Millions of churchmen greedily pray their way <br />To wealth, having duped their following <br />The grand theft of machination leading to <br />Confusion, the staccato of overwhelming <br />Discomfort in acrid economy <br />National uncouth and disdain, miserly <br />Debauchery in the oligarchy of the haves <br />Of course I am pained <br />I hate to be a Nigerian - I hate God <br />For making me who I am <br />Let me be! <br />Let me be! <br />And the restlessness goes on <br />In the sadness of dissatisfaction <br />And the growing malice <br />Of frustration in the sheer <br />Insensitivity of man <br />Yeah, the black man <br />Who claims to be my brother <br />But is but a swarthy elf <br />A negative of the devil himself. <br />But who cares for the devil - <br />Who even cares for God? <br />Only the pain is recalled <br />The pain of sitting in that room <br />Looking at the same <br />Narcissistic in sensitive creature <br />That claims to feel me <br />I will never forget the disdain <br />I will never forget the pain.<br /><br />samuel nze<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/i-will-never-forget-the-pain/
