Glenn Bagshaw - The Cycle

Arrived, we delve our illusory way,
confused, fitful in new light, but not alone;
suffering as well, mother's born that day;
both sprung: flesh's pain; some day: both in bone.
But now the heaves of breathing are just seen,
and then maternal, wizard-wand applied,
mother's love fashions (human by degree)
her replacement: successor self-supplied.
Then survival terms strict 'one' in life a lie;
but on dying, no boundary tides the shore.
The end is all. Sea echoes own reply.
One wave consumes one you; one drowned; one roar.
Life's alchemy starts studies, skills and arts.
Dark sea departs with men, and then sans parts.

Glenn Bagshaw

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-cycle-4/
