I saw my tombstone resting in peace. <br />Gnarled by moss growing in the cracks. <br />Overshadowing wilted daffodills. <br />Breaking light from trees above. <br />Surrounded by rust born leaves. <br />And the soft whispers of those left beside. <br /> <br />A curiosity was written where a name should be. <br />'Below This Earth, Below This Heart' <br />The birth date was correct. <br />The date of death was not. <br />There was no date of death. <br />I noticed the grass was still green. <br />But, the sky was dark with rain coming down. <br /> <br />I wondered all day about this premonition. <br />The sight my eyes did see when dreaming. <br />What makes someone see their own epitaph? <br />In such a devistated condition with no date of death. <br />Is this a chemical reaction of visions in REM sleep? <br />In the land of my dreams I did see what was. <br />And it was........... set in stone.<br /><br />Gulliver Gimble<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/set-in-stone-2/
