some dream of paradise <br />can’t wait to get to Heaven <br />none think Hell is their destiny - <br />some dream of drifting among the stars <br />finding a new paradise out there <br />and justice will rain down on us <br />our nobility finally revealed <br />kept locked away so long <br />and everyone will celebrate <br />and so they spin their fantasies <br />unable to face our daily realities <br />can’t wait <br />none think it’ll just be another Hell - <br />we drag our baggage wherever we go <br />our dried bones rattling <br />waiting for eternal breath <br />our souls our land divided <br />searching for sanctuary <br />chased by pestilence <br />entertained by the slaughter of unending wars <br />from country to country <br />as cities & mountains crumble into dust <br />consumed in a whirlwind of fire <br />from continent to continent <br />from planet to planet <br />from galaxy to galaxy <br />spreading our fear & paranoia <br />a race of sociopaths <br />dreaming spreading war & destruction <br />across the universe <br />searching for new worlds to conquer - <br /> <br />we are but <br />civilized neanderthals <br />crawling out of their caves <br />mistrusting the light <br />creatures of habit <br />& peace is so dull <br />& paradise is boring <br />so unleash the machinery of war <br />let’s plant fields of mushroom clouds <br />among the black draped stars - <br /> <br />dreaming God dreaming us <br />His special creation <br />so we delude ourselves <br />God's little accident <br />an unwanted side-effect <br />in the backwater of the universe <br />or some half drunk Arch-Angel's experiment <br />or whirling atomic particles clashing <br />creating little brainy gnats <br />lasting barely one breath of Brahma -<br /><br />gordon coombes<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/kaddish-variation-2/
