They have till May 30th,2009 get themselves a home, <br />The flood victims of Hurricane Katrina. <br />The victims had been placed in FEMA trailers not a football dome, <br />If they do not abide by the law, then they will get evicted by court order subpoena. <br />It has been almost 4 ½ years since the entire ninth ward had been underwater, <br />Now people are ‘underwater’ with their existing mortgages. <br />There are shanty towns, <br />And now to be vacant trailer towns, <br />-would like to have your son or daughter, <br />Growing up in modern day concentration <br />-camps, <br />A makeshift ‘ghetto’, <br />Complete with no signs, <br />-very little access to clean water and food, <br />Most frightening, <br />-some people are an illness or pink slip away from this situation. <br />Many people would’ve done things differently if they could have foreseen from afar. <br />Now back to the victims of the hurricane, <br />What shall we do with them? <br />For it’s not their fault, <br />-that a storm the size of Texas came upon them. <br />Bail-outs keep happening for Wall Street and the Big 2 of the three. <br />Most of them are afloat while they had multiple failures. <br />At least the government should give victims the trailers and a car, <br />So the people can get to work and save for a house, <br />To be later paid by the government to contractors to build housing, <br />To get people out from their formaldehyde trailers, <br />As to prevent them from being infused with carcinogens, <br />Later to be paid by the US government as far as disability payments and Medicare. <br />I guess, <br />There is no good solution for this. <br /> <br />(5-24-09)<br /><br />Joe Rosochacki<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/fema-v-federal-empowerment-of-machiavellian-attitudes/
