Drift through the forest like the breeze through the branches. <br />In the shade of these grand trees the sun is a mere glimmer. <br />Walk on my friend but caution, <br />the bush holds not only beauty but also danger. <br />What you see may be an illusion, <br />a trick of the fey that inhabit these depths. <br />Sometimes things are not always what they seem, <br />those perfectly ripe berries may hold a deadly kiss. <br />Lost in the games of the woods, <br />t' is nearly impossible to find one's way out. <br />this way seem like that, <br />and every hidden mountain, a carbon copy of the last. <br />Hunger roars at you like a vicious animal, <br />daring to attack if not given his heed. <br />Rest now in the soft grass on the edge of a clearing. <br />But whats this? <br />The rich fruit of a tomato plant, <br />its vines slithering up the trunk of a conifer. <br />Blinded by the veil of exhaustion and famine, <br />you pluck one of the heavy ripe buds. <br />Staring at your sacred cow, <br />desire blooms within your being. <br />In this moment the world revolves around the blood red torment. <br />With the first nip you are overcome with desire, <br />and hurriedly devour it whole. <br />Filled with this gift from the heavens you feel relief. <br />Unexpectedly, a fire begins to burn. <br />Like a match to tinder, <br />you are overcome. <br />The inferno chokes you- <br />lay silent and still. <br /> <br />For this was no Tomato, but the deadly Night Shade. <br /> <br />(btw...people used to think that tomatoes where toxic, because of night Shade.
