Tara McH - egoistic appropriation

You may know the feeling.

Some time has passed,
spent navel-gazing....

and then at last
something happens to awaken the brain
from this semi-slumber of analysis,
bringing back a (new?) reality, again;

and - what is this?

A rude awakening
from a world there for the taking
though studiously,
previously,
ignored by the mind,
eyes wide shut,
mentality blind:

a glimpse of ad hoc moments composing the day,
each one passed, yet never taken away;
but taken,
stirred,
shaken,
re-stirred:

a reconstructed word
taken by each ego for what it can, or will,
rejuvenating its fragile roots, until
it is whole once more,
and utterly adored;

a breath
a wind
a sigh
a child
a call
a thought
a lover
a laugh
a leaf
a song
a sky

a recognition of why

things are as they are;
(and plant another flower,
or a seed, in the brain;
then do the same, again and again) :

and what have you,
and what are you?

Each a moment in the taking,
each a lifetime in the making,
each occuring not for itself, per se -

but a factor to a hedonistic day

Tara McH

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/egoistic-appropriation/
