The days of peno and paper long gone <br />Typo conquered them all <br />Little did they know the Compo’s advent <br />With an agenda to make things better <br />But for us scribblers, does it really matter? <br /> <br />Words of power rounding about <br />Rarely a Halo above I see <br />Occupied and yet shallow, words fly <br />I see their wings, once I drew <br />Amongst the many things I threw <br />Flying high up above <br />Untying the knots made beneath <br />Free and carefree as they can be <br />With sparrows as their company. <br /> <br />Amazed at their plight, I stand <br />Jealous on their achievement <br />I tread their path holding up hope <br />Unaware of the cruel tornadoes descending <br />I walk and walk hoping to fly <br />But little did I know <br />My sprouted wings tied <br />I see myself taken by the winds <br />Astray I am thrown amongst the others <br />Waiting for the autumns to pass by.<br /><br />Divya Joseph<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/sake-of-writing/
