Beauty tainted <br />Stained by tear tracks <br />Mascaras blackened runs <br />Smeared into rouge puffed cheeks <br />Lipstick smudges intermingled <br />Hair knotted in disarray <br />Grief filled sobs filled the air <br />Ugly bruising showing <br />Cuts given from abusive hands <br />Clothing ripped and torn <br />Dishevelled <br />Frightened <br />Bewildered <br />Hiding from herself <br />Blaming her own actions <br />Confidence shattered to shards <br />Raped not only physically but mentally <br />A victim of a date gone wrong <br />Plied surreptitiously with drink <br />Too much alcohol hastily drunk <br />Laced with drugs meant to disable <br />Pure evil the intent <br />A sign of repugnant times <br />Who will console her damaged soul? <br />Pick up her self-confidence <br />Drag her back from the precipice of despair <br />Make whole beauties inner belief <br />To smile and laugh once more <br />Healed yet, scarred deep within <br />Complete but always empty <br />A shell of her former self <br />Only time, understanding, tenderness and love<br /><br />Gordon D Wilkinson<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/damaged-soul/
