Many times I feared, <br />that it was you that I had lost. <br />And then I soon find out, <br />I was too engrossed. <br /> <br />With myself alone, <br />was all that I could think. <br />Strange to say it was these thoughts, <br />that brought me to the brink. <br /> <br />You've seen me break apart, <br />And fall to pieces at your feet. <br />In this vicious cycle, <br />It's almost my way to greet. <br /> <br />My memory is a bad one, <br />for times that were great. <br />Always seemingly so empty, <br />like a grey blank slate. <br /> <br />And then it starts to work, <br />when I remember all the bad. <br />The past I wish to bury, <br />the past I wish I never had. <br /> <br />You have always been there, <br />through the thick and thin. <br />You have been there when I cried, <br />And been there when I grinned. <br /> <br />Your presence is so gentle. <br />So soothing and so calm. <br />Easily overtaken <br />by fake luster and fake charms. <br /> <br />I wish it were a lie, <br />but is the truth nonetheless. <br />For now the foot I wish to place, <br />is by far my best. <br /> <br />I am tired of disappointing, <br />the people I have around, <br />They may rage on and on, <br />but from you I hear not a sound. <br /> <br />You quietly accept, <br />everything I put forth. <br />You don't even question, <br />you don't even cough. <br /> <br />I'm sorry I keep forgetting, <br />and thinking I am lost, <br />When you are always there, <br />guiding me at all cost. <br /> <br />How can I ever thank you? <br />I think I already know. <br />To carry on to the fullest, <br />and give them a great show. <br /> <br />To you I wish to hug, <br />kiss, love and adore. <br />But as for now, <br />It shall be you I live for. <br /> <br />I hope that I succeed. <br />And do good in what I do. <br />For hopefully someday, <br />Just someday, <br />maybe I will be worthy Lord, <br />of finally seeing you. <br /> <br />Goodnight Lord.<br /><br />Mandy Lee<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/poem-in-a-prayer/
