She was lying in bed <br />Tubes around and artificially fed <br />Speechless as if gripped with cold <br />Calm but determined and looked bold <br /> <br />Was it pain or anger? <br />Unhappiness or hunger? <br />Disease, fatigue or discomfort <br />needed solace and strong support <br /> <br />I looked tired and pale <br />what could I do for her to console? <br />I was utterly helpless <br />Efforts made were more but result was less <br /> <br />Memory took me back several years <br />She whispered gently and I could hear <br />She slept on bed without fear <br />Happiness on face without a tear <br /> <br />She was gorgeous with the entire smile <br />I was simply mesmerized for a while <br />I was ducking to show her warm love <br />I starred at her as lover dove <br /> <br />All thoughts came to an abrupt halt <br />As if somebody was rubbing salt <br />Wounds were aggravating with deep pain <br />Her sickness was the worry main <br /> <br />She always smiled and prayed Lords <br />Stood at door with welcoming words <br />She never complained or expressed regret <br />Eager to compromise and ready to forget, <br /> <br />Such a noble soul was undergoing pain <br />All my efforts were proving in vain <br />Will she recover and be talking again? <br />Smile with consciousness without pain <br /> <br />Let my years be added to her life <br />Lived up to expectation as good wife <br />Life was difficult to walk on edge of knife <br />she acted wise even when situation was not rife <br /> <br />One has to part when time has run out <br />Victory may sometimes result into rout <br />All we can do is to pray and bow to almighty <br />Shower with blessings to come out of pity<br /><br />hasmukh amathalal<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/lying-in-bed/
