At noon, under the green umbrella <br />I lay on my back to watch the leafy waves <br />And the alternating luster of the sun, <br />Falling occasionally to the lull of lazy abandon <br />A dense liquid sensation creeping down <br />To hold even the bed of old leaves and grass <br />The cool wind’s intoxication blanketing <br />Till dusk when the evening prayers <br />Accompany assorted colours <br />Where light competes darkness. <br />What are these opposites – darkness and light <br />Love and hate, but light cannot be light without the other <br />And things are safe for me till this green umbrella <br />Is blown away by unseen winds.<br /><br />Raveendran N.V.<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-green-umbrella/
