Those who once opposed, <br />Later on they accepted <br />The arguments of Sankara <br />And the principles of Advaita. <br /> <br />He knew his life was short <br />So, his teachings he wrote <br />For the posterity to read <br />And follow this record. <br /> <br />For Vyasa’s Brahma Sutra, <br />Ten Upanishads, Bagwad Gita, <br />Explanatory notes he wrote, <br />As Bashyam they call it. <br /> <br />He wrote for children <br />Many songs, more divine, <br />To cultivate their devotion <br />And spiritual elevation. <br /> <br />Many scholars of the world <br />And men in the spiritual fold <br />Praised his works as masterpiece <br />In the light of world peace. <br /> <br />Kasi is a pilgrim center. <br />Many people who came there <br />To dip in the Ganges River, <br />Later stayed there forever. <br /> <br />From all corners of Bharat, <br />People began to congregate, <br />And loved him much, <br />As their Master as such. <br /> <br />At his talent, they wondered. <br />His speech, they admired. <br />“How a young Sanyasi <br />Could handle it so easy? ” <br /> <br />He was Siva on earth, <br />They knew not this truth, <br />But were amazed to find, <br />He wasn’t ordinary kind.<br /><br />Rajaram Ramachandran<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/adi-sankara-07-sankara-s-works/
