Caught up in life quite mundane <br />Searching for true happiness, finding only pain <br />I’m forced to live where I can not be me <br />I wish I could just break free <br /> <br />Competition everywhere for which I don’t care <br />It’s not true that I can not dare <br />The joy of life robbed to prove our ability <br />I wish I could just break free <br /> <br />We fight for a nickel, we fight for a dime <br />We fight for space and for time <br />We fight for imaginary boundary <br />I wish I could just break free <br /> <br />In the past has been waged many a war <br />Many a time not knowing what we fight for <br />So inhuman, cruel and gory <br />I wish I could just break free <br /> <br />I dream of a land peaceful and serene <br />Unpolluted, calm, pure and clean <br />Living a life which produces no debris <br />I wish I could just break free <br /> <br />Drinking from streams which are crystal clear <br />Wandering about anywhere without any fear <br />Verdant expanses of land with many a fruit tree <br />I wish I could just break free <br /> <br />Lying under the moonless sky gazing at stars <br />Or at the full moon with all its scars <br />Late into the night till it all becomes bleary <br />I wish I could just break free <br /> <br />It’s beautiful though with all the strife <br />With what’s amiss if we don’t make a problem out of life <br />With whatever there is if we agree <br />It’s not in the future, we are already free.<br /><br />Bindu Vidyadhar<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/breaking-free-3/
