Day takes off her dress <br />hangs it on an horizon. <br />Naked now as night <br />her rich black skin glittering <br />with many stuck on stars...stars. <br /> <br />******* <br /> <br />Storm knocks on the door. <br />No one there except a moon. <br />Too fat to get in! <br />Stars sitting in window panes <br />wonder where...all humans are? <br /> <br />******* <br /> <br />Video slows to <br />slow...mo...as I move through t i m e <br />watching myself take all <br />the time in the world just to <br />get from one second...to...the next. <br /> <br /> <br />******* <br /> <br />Giant of a man <br />squeezed into little teashop <br />as if a mountain <br />had come to have cream tea. <br />Sips cup...extends his pinkie. <br /> <br />******* <br /> <br />Losing the head...hair! <br />Bald as billiard ball now. <br />Growing more hair on <br />his chin for compensation. <br />His head...looks upside...down now! <br /> <br />******* <br /> <br />Vines escapes concrete <br />does a runner up the wall. <br />Meets Death at child’s hand. <br />All that effort ripped away <br />idly in a child’s play. <br /> <br />******* <br /> <br />Gravestone so old gray <br />gives birth to the exquisite <br />tiny strawberries <br />running riot with a life <br />of their own...laughing at Death. <br /> <br />******* <br /> <br />SALAD DAYS <br /> <br />I gaze at flowers <br />as horses graze on flowers. <br />Both loving flowers <br />each in our separate ways. <br />I nibbling a nasturtium. <br />Horse looking at a thistle. <br /> <br />******* <br /> <br />Scarecrow set alight <br />becoming a WICKERMAN. <br />Moon saying nothing. <br />An owl doesn’t give a hoot. <br />Scarecrow smiling to the end. <br /> <br />******* <br />ONE LITTLE JAPANESE WORD <br /> <br />Down on my knees I <br />whisper: “Fuwa! ” & “Fuwa! ” <br />Keep on keeping on <br />even though I can’t go on. <br />I smile: “Indestructible! ”<br /><br />Dónall Dempsey<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/good-morning-onelia-tankas/
