I looked out my window and saw a blue bird, <br />Rememebered that even his happiness was absurd. <br /> <br />I lost my best friend yesterday, <br />I couldn't find find the words to make her stay. <br /> <br />I broke the ring my lover gave me, <br />Right after his boat was lost at sea. <br /> <br />My only daughter left for college today, <br />And I won't see her again till next May. <br /> <br />My car broke down on my way to town, <br />And the closest mechanic was a long way down. <br /> <br />In the waiting room I saw a news show, <br />My business building just collapsed no survivors found that they know. <br /> <br />The man beside me said, <br />'Thank the Lord... you'd have been dead.' <br /> <br />I had to words to reply, <br />I simply waited for the repair to be done as I let out a sigh. <br /> <br />On my way home I drove slowly, <br />Thought about today and how the lucky one was me. <br /> <br />Tragedy had struck me, <br />I had lost all faith in God... but then I thought about today, now I see. <br /> <br />It could have been a mircale, <br />Maybe it was God? <br /> <br />Who knows whats up there in the sky, <br />Maybe there isn't anything and we're all just waiting to die. <br /> <br />But while I'm living here I know I'll do the best I can, <br />Because when I die I hope to know I did the best I someone ever can. <br /> <br />To live a good and long life even if I cry alot, <br />I'll strive to make the friends and strangers smile Iike I've been taught. <br /> <br />And hope that for one more day I'll live to see another way, <br />A way to hear the blue birds sing with happiness they can only bring.<br /><br />Ashley Fortin<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/blue-bird-11/
