Hallelujah! <br />The havens have opened up. <br />The merciful god of rain <br />has taken pity on this land <br />scorched by smoldering heat, <br />dried up and cracked like plaster, <br />robing the fields of yield and luster. <br /> <br />It is raining! <br />It is a miracle for my two years old granddaughter <br />She has never seen before <br />from the sky falling water <br />She has never heard the thunder, <br />never seen lightening; <br />for her it is all so frightening. <br /> <br />It is raining! <br />The drought is broken! <br />Cristal clear precious water <br />is coming down in buckets <br />washing our dusty tin roofs, <br />filing up our tanks and dams, <br />quenching our thirsty cows and lambs. <br /> <br />The rains are here! <br />Everybody is out on the street <br />getting themselves soaking wet, <br />washing off the dust and sweat. <br />They are doing the rain dance <br />thanking god for removing the sword <br />that threatened a slaughter <br />that comes from not raining, <br />not having any water. <br /> <br /> February 2006<br /><br />Milica Franchi De Luri<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/it-is-raining-3/
