rain falling at my feet
swirling down a rusty drain
no need to run,
sick of the heat
the water pours down
releasing all strain

coffee brings mind light
eyes closed to a dream
unfocused on today
losing any strength to fight
no need for war
just have to change how i seem

lazy feet walk and stray
again under the rain
droplets from the sky
the freedom to lose the way
running feels right
no care to keep sane

faster and faster through it all
the pavement disappears below
run towards plush puddles
splash, fall and crawl
I know to laugh
laughing at my own show

the clouds thin out in the sky
the stars light up the land
soaked on the ground
i don't even think of why
or how i got to here
but now i choose to stand

the beauty overwhlems me
spread my arms to fly
in my mind
but so clearly i can see
in the air i breathe
to let it go with a sigh

Leah Ayliffe

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/breakthrough-14/
