As earth spins
A wild clump of woolly clouds
Into threads of light,
Skein on skein
Are wrapped around stray glimmers
And become the moon.
When full, the big ball of fine
Filament is used to weave
A new t'fillin for the night
Tying the ragged ends
Into wet fringes of fog,
Making a prayer shawl
Of the tapestry of the heavens
By knotting stars into place.

Now facing Jerusalem,
Kissing the corners, I recite the blessing -
I cover myself with
This holy garment of night to pray.

Lillian Susan Thomas

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/threads-of-light/
