As I stand my post all through the night, <br />I think to myself about our very first fight. <br />As I crawl through the sand, <br />I think of when I get to hold your hand. <br />As I fire my weapon down range, <br />I think that I love to see you change. <br />As I march all through the day, <br />I think of all the things you love to say. <br />As I fight the enemy on the battlefeild, <br />I think how our love refuses to yeild. <br />As I duck behind trees for cover, <br />I think that you are the greatest lover. <br />As I clean the bay to make it look good, <br />I think that you are here where you should. <br />As I stab the enemy in the chest, <br />I think how much that you are the best. <br />As I get up before the morning sun, <br />I think no wait, I know that you are the one. <br />And as I die with no one around, <br />I know you'll hear the whisper of my sound.<br /><br />Kenneth Caron Jr.<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/as-i-12/
