From the wombs of civilizations <br />Occupied the land that carried the promise <br />The earth with the sustained character <br />Scarves of silk and music pleasing to ears <br />Many senses polished to shine on light <br />Chandeliers of waltz in polka décor <br />Gold on the walls and baths from springs <br />Warm for health rose water and milk <br />Happy conversation the nights on wool <br />Carpets and draperies what softness means <br />Wine in crystal the poet recites sadness <br />Languor of eyes on repressed emotions <br />Hunt for the fox or lion on horse back <br />Elegant dogs with stealth hanging on the side <br />Nothing to say about the furors of arms <br />What idea the conqueror has of the conquest <br />Nothing to say that shall please the minds <br />Sword smeared with blood booty on the ground <br />No border for flame of ideas when in travel <br />With breeze flies the falcons of imagination <br />By power subdued what is there in the head <br />How to the hearts you go when no path you have <br />Convert yourself as the barbarians on civilization <br />Or carry the book lofty in ideals than the one <br />Seek similarities before the clash of swords <br />Rise higher or be defeated in wits of knowledge <br />Akin to the human intellect is rise and fall <br />Civilizations have a history not of arms and sword <br />Of minds and wisdom and ideals is the arson <br />20/8/2009<br /><br />Sadiqullah Khan<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/clash-of-civilizations-2/
