I heard it once and I believed,
That was my name and I was relieved,
That was enough and I was satisfied,
Didn't matter if was truth or someone lied,

They told me again and I was bound to see,
That was the life and that was the fee,
She was the anima and I was the animus
I was the plus and she was the minus

Years kept coming through and they wouldn't be stopped
I had to follow rules or I was to be mocked
And the price to be paid to leave the others shocked
Often could mean I had to be locked

In a world of lines I couldn't be a blur
I couldn't be naked in the world of the fur,
Doesn't matter if real or the fake of the fakes,
Not being in line was the worst of mistakes

It was just when my usefulness seemed to end
They stopped trying to fix or make the amend
'Cause line I couldn't be for hard as I tried,
My time had ran out and my youth had dried,

And left alone I started to lament
(Well, not the fact that my life was for rent)
But the point that as happy or sad I became
Decision was never mine, that was my shame

Because life is just one, at least as we know,
And it is way too short to live it low,
So seize your happiness and call it yours
Open your own paths and open your own doors

So don't forget this poet's words:
Doesn't matter if you conquer atoms or worlds
Don't be a doll that could be stored in a shelf,
Be your own lord and do things by yourself

Pedro Cescon

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/the-invisible-ruler/
