(Paintings by Robert Lange)

A panda bear isn’t that large
not large enough to be a bear
you might think, but what if ––

What if ––
it were small enough
to fit into the palm of your outstretched hand
then give you a wink
wouldn’t that make you think ––
when all the time
it’s looking at you like a little bear.

What if ––
you wanted to sit in your favorite chair
and there it sat - in thoughtful repose-
a six inch tall lion
with a mane and all that
looking straight into your eyes
with a question of its own,
“Who are you, thinking of taking my chair? ”

- September 5,2009

I like to combine the arts. “Gentle Reminder” and “In Thoughtful Repose” are two paintings by Robert Lange. Both are featured in the September 2009 issue of American Art Collection magazine. These particular pictures are no longer accessible online, but to see other pictures he has painted go to: http: //www.robertlangestudios.com/.

There are others on PH who do the same. Read the poems of Robert Howard, Ahmad Shiddiqi, and Karin Anderson. You may already know of some too.

This poem was published online by Sketchbook - Sept./Oct,2009.

Ben Gieske

http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/gentle-reminder-in-thoughtful-repose/
