Sounds trite but in the end it’s right <br /> <br /> <br />Make peace, not fight <br /> <br /> <br />Say a prayer to God for someone each night <br /> <br /> <br />Before turning off the light <br /> <br /> <br />Try to treat your fellow neighbor right <br /> <br /> <br />Be brave to teach the children <br /> <br /> <br />wrong from right <br /> <br /> <br />Don't criticize, lest you dim their bright <br /> <br /> <br />Don't satisfy their every desire <br /> <br /> <br />or fuel their selfish fire <br /> <br /> <br />Try to build in them a gentle flame <br /> <br /> <br />One that seeks fulfillment rather than fame <br /> <br /> <br />Humility, rather than a glorified name <br /> <br /> <br />Don't push too hard or twist their brain <br /> <br /> <br />Because wouldn't it be a shame <br /> <br /> <br />If their talent and heart was all in vain <br /> <br /> <br />Teach them to walk peacefully <br /> <br /> <br />In either the sun or the rain <br /> <br /> <br />Feed their heart with goodness <br /> <br /> <br />From the start <br /> <br /> <br />For of the world, they'll be a part <br /> <br /> <br />Don't chastise them if they're less than smart <br /> <br /> <br />Don't build them too tall or break them apart <br /> <br /> <br />Just give them tenderness and care <br /> <br /> <br />Teach them how to give and share <br /> <br /> <br />They'll be your legacy <br /> <br /> <br />And in them, a piece of you will always be there <br /> <br /> <br />A lingering reflection of your love and care<br /><br />JAMES T.
