A single weather-beaten pale pink rose <br />hung tenuously on top of the bush, <br />with the first hints of September chill <br />swirling in the minted breeze. <br /> <br />I could not smell its fragrance <br />but I knew it was there, <br />and that it was heavenly. <br />“The earth laughs in flowers” <br />says my favorite poet. <br /> <br />The sky and heavens above <br />are filled with fragrance, <br />the fragrance of love. <br />I could not smell its fragrance <br />but I knew it was there. <br /> <br />“Heaven smiles in fragrance” <br />says the inner poet, <br />and thanks the pale pink rose <br />which laughs and says <br />“I know it”.<br /><br />David Taylor<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/one-rose-in-september/
