Running away and joining the circus <br />crosses my mind through out the day <br />I'll flag down a rainbow colored carousel <br />and ride away on a brightly painted fantasy <br />A prancing, dancing… musical steed <br /> <br />There is a magical lure of cotton candy and popcorn <br />with delightful smells… breath in the invigorating air… <br />the atmosphere sets my skin a glow…declaring freedom <br />Glittering lights outshine the doldrums of my daily routine <br />I'm carried to a land of endless rejoicing with great speed <br /> <br />Caught up in a rapture of laughter and frivolity <br />never having to think about cumbersome ills <br />On a weightless cloud… out of view from reality <br />enjoying a continuous adventure…slowing down <br />the fantasy is taking on a distinctly familiar quality <br /> <br />Traveling in circles listening to a monotonous song <br />The repetition invites a headache and creates doubts <br />The novelty begins to wobble as bearings in my brain <br />become unbalanced… the illusion is coming to a halt <br />As I step to the ground…my legs regained steadiness <br /> <br />Looking for the nearest exit…returning to a home <br />satisfying constant with the comfort of modest pleasures <br />At the end of a day... with its usual ups and downs… <br />A sense of security is achieved after problems are solved <br />The trance of illusion is replaced with a practical conclusion <br /> <br />9/17/09<br /><br />Theresa Ann Moore<br /><br />http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/fantasy-vs-reality-2/
